Cristian Romero could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer after Inter Milan opened talks over a deal for the Argentina defender. The 28-year-old recently helped Argentina reach a second straight FIFA World Cup final and may now return to Serie A for a large transfer fee.
Cristian Romero has made 156 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur since joining the Premier League club in 2021. He also captained the team to UEFA Europa League success last season, although four suspensions disrupted his 2025-26 campaign.

Inter Milan Confirm Cristian Romero Interest
Cristian Romero’s representatives travelled to Milan for discussions as Inter Milan began working on an agreement with the player and Tottenham Hotspur.
Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed the Italian club’s interest but warned that negotiations could take time.
“It’s definitely a deal we are trying to sign with the player and the club. These things take some time but there’s definitely interest. Let’s see.”
Tottenham Hotspur Ready for Defensive Change
Tottenham Hotspur have already strengthened Roberto De Zerbi’s defensive options by signing Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion for £52 million.
Marcos Senesi also joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in June, giving the club more freedom to consider offers for Cristian Romero.
The Argentina international spent time in Italian football before joining Tottenham Hotspur and would bring aggression, experience and leadership to Inter Milan’s defence.
