Toby Rudolf is reportedly set to remain with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks after agreeing to a one-year contract extension for the 2027 NRL season. The decision keeps the prop in Sydney as the club prepares for several changes to its playing squad.
The Catalans Dragons reportedly offered Toby Rudolf a three-year Super League contract, while St George Illawarra Dragons also expressed interest. Toby Rudolf instead chose another season with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, where he has played since making his NRL debut in 2020.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Retain Pack Experience
Toby Rudolf has developed into a trusted member of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks forward rotation. The reported extension would take him into his eighth NRL season with the club.
His availability has been affected by a knee injury during the 2026 campaign. However, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks reportedly still view his powerful carries and work through the middle as useful parts of their plans.
Keeping Toby Rudolf would provide some stability as several long-serving Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks players approach the end of their contracts. His understanding of the team’s system should also help as new forwards enter the rotation.
Catalans Dragons Miss Out on Recruitment Target
The decision is a setback for the Catalans Dragons, who were seeking another proven NRL forward before the 2027 Super League season. Their three-year proposal offered Toby Rudolf greater long-term security than the reported Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks extension.
St George Illawarra Dragons also miss the chance to strengthen their pack with an established local option. Toby Rudolf has instead chosen familiarity and another opportunity to continue his career in the Shire.
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks had not formally announced the extension at the time of reporting. Until the club confirms the contract, the agreement remains reported rather than official.
