Australia Test squad selectors have reunited Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon for the two-match series against Bangladesh in August. The 13-player group will contest Tests in Darwin and Mackay at the start of a demanding 12-month period featuring 20 matches.
Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon return after recovering from injuries that disrupted Australia’s home summer. Jake Weatherald has retained his position as Travis Head’s opening partner despite modest returns during the Ashes.

Jake Weatherald Retains Opening Role
Jake Weatherald played all five Ashes Tests against England, scoring 201 runs at an average of 22.33. The Darwin-born left-hander will now have an opportunity to strengthen his Test position in his home city.
The decision gives Australia continuity at the top of the order following Usman Khawaja’s retirement. Jake Weatherald and Travis Head will be expected to provide early momentum against the Bangladesh new-ball attack.
Australia Restore First-Choice Attack
“They have worked extremely hard, individually and with the (fitness) teams, over the past few months to return from their respective injuries,” chairman of selectors George Bailey said.
The return of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon means Australia can field its established bowling quartet alongside Mitchell Starc. Scott Boland also remains in the squad, giving selectors another pace option depending on the conditions.
Michael Neser, Todd Murphy and Brendan Doggett were not selected after featuring in Australia’s previous Test squad. The first match will be played in Darwin from August 13 to 17, followed by the Mackay Test from August 22 to 26.
