Jayden Lennox claimed four wickets as New Zealand defeated the West Indies by six wickets in the third one-day international at Guyana National Stadium on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The victory gave New Zealand a 2-1 advantage in the five-match series.
The West Indies were dismissed for 140 in 37.1 overs after losing their final five wickets for 19 runs. Jayden Lennox took four for 52, following his five for 19 in the second ODI.
Elsewhere in cricket, Steve Smith’s 40-ball century powered a record Twenty20 chase.
Mitchell Santner collected two wickets for 15 from 8.1 overs, while Michael Bracewell finished with two for 33. New Zealand’s spin attack repeatedly targeted the stumps and allowed the turning Providence surface to create uncertainty.
“There's obviously no secret to it, it's keep the stumps in play,” Jayden Lennox said. “You have to let the pitch do what it does.”
Keacy Carty offered the strongest resistance with 48 from 77 balls before Michael Bracewell trapped him lbw. John Campbell retired hurt after suffering a hamstring injury while running between the wickets and could not return.
New Zealand completed the chase at 141 for four in 39.3 overs, as recorded by the official New Zealand Cricket scorecard. Henry Nicholls scored 24, Will Young made 23 and Daryl Mitchell contributed 28.
Vitel Lawes took three early wickets to keep the West Indies interested, but the small target reduced the pressure on New Zealand. Tom Latham and Dean Foxcroft shared an unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership of 52 to finish the chase.
Tom Latham made 31 from 53 balls, while Dean Foxcroft scored 22 from 28 deliveries. Their controlled stand ensured New Zealand won with 63 balls remaining.
The series moves to Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, where the fourth ODI will be played on Sunday.
