Mooney And Gardner Lead Australia
Mooney made 74 before retiring hurt with back stiffness, giving Australia early control after the openers attacked loose length from the Dutch bowlers.
Georgia Voll added 17 before falling to Iris Zwilling, while Ellyse Perry was dismissed for one as the Netherlands took two wickets in the powerplay. Gardner then lifted the scoring rate with 58, finding gaps and clearing the rope as Australia passed 150 in the 14th over.
Georgia Wareham added late speed with 41, including a burst of boundaries that pushed Australia close to 200 before Zwilling removed her.
Netherlands Fight In The Chase
The Netherlands lost Phebe Molkenboer early when Kim Garth found the edge and Georgia Voll, keeping wicket in Mooney’s absence, completed the catch.
Garth struck again to trap Heather Siegers lbw for nine, but Babette de Leede and Sterre Kalis gave the Dutch chase some shape. Kalis brought up 2,000 T20I career runs with a boundary, while de Leede played confidently through the off side.
At 102-2 after 16 overs, the Netherlands had shown plenty of fight despite facing a huge target.
