The State of Origin II showdown is set for Wednesday night at the MCG in Melbourne, with New South Wales aiming to secure the series after their dramatic Game I victory and Queensland desperate to keep their hopes alive. More than 90,000 fans are expected to witness one of rugby league's biggest rivalries as the Blues look to wrap up the series while the Maroons chase a season-saving response.
Blues Seek Series Win, Maroons Chase Redemption
NSW enters the contest with confidence following its 22-20 win in the opening game. Queensland, meanwhile, is looking for a stronger finish after Kalyn Ponga's controversial send-off played a major role in the Maroons' defeat.
Veteran coach Wayne Bennett has urged Queensland to ignore its poor record at the MCG, while captain Cameron Munster is expected to play a key leadership role in a must-win encounter.
For NSW, stars Nathan Cleary and Mitchell Moses will again guide the attack as Laurie Daley's side looks to complete the job.
