Patrick Dangerfield will play for the Geelong Cats in 2027 after signing a one-year contract extension on Friday. The decision takes the club captain into his 20th AFL season and places the 400-game milestone within reach.
Patrick Dangerfield has played 374 AFL matches and will turn 37 next April. His new deal allows one of the competition's most accomplished players to continue leading the Geelong Cats while chasing another premiership.

Geelong Cats Back Their Captain
Geelong Cats football boss Andrew Mackie praised Patrick Dangerfield's leadership and influence within the club.
"It's exciting for us all to have Pat playing for the Cats in 2027," Andrew Mackie said.
"He continues to lead from the front and remains an important player and person within our football program."
Patrick Dangerfield remains a central figure in the Geelong Cats squad, bringing experience, strength around the contest and leadership during high-pressure matches.
Career Filled With Major Honours
Patrick Dangerfield began his AFL career with the Adelaide Crows and played 154 games for the club between 2008 and 2015. He joined the Geelong Cats ahead of the 2016 season and won the Brownlow Medal in his first year at the club.
The midfielder is an eight-time All-Australian and played in the Geelong Cats' 2022 premiership victory. He has also won four club champion awards, with one at the Adelaide Crows and three at the Geelong Cats.
Patrick Dangerfield would need another 26 appearances to reach 400 AFL games. Official club news is available through the Geelong Cats website.
