Patrick Voss’ torn jumper will be inspected by Fremantle Dockers apparel manufacturer Sekem after it ripped again during Thursday night’s 38-point AFL victory over the Sydney Swans at Optus Stadium. The inspection is intended to determine whether a manufacturing fault caused the damage.
Patrick Voss denied deliberately tearing the guernsey during a Monday interview with Triple M. His comments followed Channel Seven commentator Brian Taylor’s suggestion that the Fremantle Dockers forward was ripping his jumpers intentionally.
Elsewhere in the AFL, Dean Solomon has defended Zach Merrett after the Essendon midfielder’s quiet game against the Brisbane Lions.
Sekem Investigates Possible Jumper Fault
“I’ve actually got to give it back to the club today because Sekem want to inspect it and see why they keep ripping,” Patrick Voss said.
“They want to see if there’s a faulty area through there. I think it was towards the end of the second quarter this time, which was a bit better, so I wasn’t out there for as long this time.”
“Last time it was a full quarter; it was only five minutes this time.”
The jumper opened around Patrick Voss’ chest during another physical contest. His aggressive key-forward role regularly places the front of the guernsey under pressure during tackles and marking contests.
Fremantle Crowd Drives Comeback
The official Fremantle Dockers match report recorded a remarkable turnaround after the home side failed to kick a goal before halftime. The Fremantle Dockers then scored 100 second-half points.
“A bit has been documented about Fremantle’s home crowd, and it was off its head on Thursday night,” Patrick Voss said.
“It gave us a few goals. The Swans obviously felt the perceived pressure.”
“It was unbelievable.”
