Jeremy Cameron shoulder injury concerns have deepened for the Geelong Cats after the forward underwent surgery on the AC joint in his left shoulder. The 33-year-old was hurt during Saturday’s 13-point AFL loss to the Greater Western Sydney Giants at ENGIE Stadium.
Jeremy Cameron will miss at least four of the remaining five home-and-away rounds, although the Geelong Cats have not ruled out a return before finals. The ninth-placed club holds a 9-8 record and remains in the race for the top six.
Elsewhere in the AFL, Dean Solomon has defended Zach Merrett following the midfielder’s quiet performance against the Brisbane Lions.
Heavy Collision Adds to Geelong Cats Injury List
Jeremy Cameron was taken to hospital after colliding with Clayton Oliver during the final quarter. He had performed well in an unfamiliar defensive role before suffering the injury.
Jack Henry and Tanner Bruhn were also assessed in hospital but avoided serious injuries. Greater Western Sydney Giants youngster Phoenix Gothard dislocated his left shoulder during a damaging night for both clubs.
Karl Amon Undergoes Knee Procedure
The Hawthorn Hawks have sent Karl Amon for knee surgery after he managed intermittent pain throughout the season. The club’s official injury update states that the defender should return before the AFL finals.
“This has been in consideration for a number of weeks,” Hawthorn Hawks football boss Rob McCartney said. “While Karl has had some intermittent pain throughout the season, there was no further risk in him playing games.”
“We expect Karl to be available for selection before finals.”
Karl Amon recorded 12 disposals, one mark and two tackles in the Hawthorn Hawks’ 64-point victory over the Carlton Blues.
