Brooklyn Nets NBA Draft trade talk has picked up around a proposed move from No. 6 to No. 3, a deal that would put Brooklyn in range of Cameron Boozer in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The suggested trade would send the third overall pick from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Brooklyn Nets, while Memphis would receive the No. 6 pick plus Brooklyn’s unprotected first-round selections in 2030 and 2032.
The debate comes as NBA teams weigh major roster calls, with De’Aaron Fox NBA Finals Blunders Leave San Antonio Spurs Facing 3-1 Hole showing how quickly franchise-building decisions can be judged in high-pressure moments. Fans can follow official draft updates through the NBA website.
Brooklyn Nets Weigh Price of Moving Up
Brooklyn made history by selecting five players in the first round last year, but the franchise still lacks a clear lead piece for its rebuild.
Boozer is widely viewed as one of the safer prospects near the top of the board, which explains why the Brooklyn Nets could consider paying a premium to move up.
The cost would be heavy, with two future unprotected first-round picks reducing Brooklyn’s long-term flexibility.
That risk matters because those 2030 and 2032 selections could become major assets if the Brooklyn Nets remain outside the playoff picture.
Memphis Grizzlies Could Add Future Assets
For the Memphis Grizzlies, the proposal offers a different type of value.
Moving from No. 3 to No. 6 would still leave them in position to draft a high-level prospect, while adding two future first-round picks to strengthen their asset base.
The new lottery rules set for 2027 have also made high draft positions more costly, which could explain why the asking price is so steep.
ESPN analyst Bobby Marks questioned whether Brooklyn should give up two of its own unprotected picks for the chance to draft Boozer or Caleb Wilson.
For Brooklyn, the choice comes down to belief in one prospect. For Memphis, it comes down to whether extra future picks are worth sliding three spots on draft night.
