Tom Stewart concussion news has dealt Geelong a major blow, with the vice-captain ruled out of Friday night’s AFL clash against Gold Coast after a late head knock in last Thursday’s loss to Adelaide.
The Geelong defender was injured in the final seconds as he dived at a loose ball inside forward 50, hit the turf head first and slid into Rory Laird’s leg as the siren sounded.

Stewart Enters Concussion Protocols
Stewart was slow to rise after the final act of the match, while Adelaide celebrated a tight win around him.
He eventually got to his feet with help from teammates and walked from the field, but has since entered concussion protocols.
The Cats will now be without one of their defensive leaders for at least the home meeting with Gold Coast.
Official AFL injury and fixture updates can be followed through the AFL website.
Cats Monitor Cameron Arm Concern
Geelong will also keep a close watch on Jeremy Cameron after the star forward copped a knock to the arm he broke in last year’s grand final loss.
Cameron had only three disposals after quarter-time against Adelaide, with nerve issues around the arm reportedly flaring during the match.
The Cats could regain Lawson Humphries after an ankle injury kept him out last week, while ruck Mitch Edwards is set to be available after being managed.
Geelong remain fourth on the ladder despite back-to-back defeats, but they face a tight run before the mid-season bye.
After Gold Coast, the Cats travel to Perth for a Thursday night match against Fremantle.
