India have left out Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja for the one-off Test against Afghanistan starting June 6 in New Chandigarh, as Shubman Gill leads a reshaped squad featuring several fresh faces. The decision is part of workload management and injury recovery, with India returning to red-ball cricket after a five-month break and using the match to test bench strength and spin options.
KL Rahul has been named vice-captain after Rishabh Pant’s leadership change, while Afghanistan also miss key spinner Rashid Khan due to workload management. New names like Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar are in line for possible Test debuts after strong domestic seasons.
