Australian boxing star Tim Tszyu headlined a dramatic 48 hours after his blockbuster July fight with Errol Spence Jr. was confirmed in Las Vegas, while his brother Nikita Tszyu sparked chaos at an open workout in Newcastle on Sunday. The build-up featured a mascot knockdown, a minor car crash involving fighters, and an unexpected appearance from Rolando Romero, who cheekily asked for “leftovers” of Spence. The events matter as they add tension and hype ahead of two major fights, including Nikita’s bout with Oscar Diaz on May 6.
Heated Rivalry Builds in Las Vegas
Tszyu and Spence’s press conference turned hostile quickly.
“He made it that way,” Tszyu said. “I’m a respectful guy. But when you go up to someone and they fully reject you … I see how it is.”
The Australian added:
“We don’t like each other… And I can’t wait to get in there and crack on.”
Newcastle Event Turns Wild
At Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Nikita entertained fans by dropping a Knights mascot with a playful jab. Moments earlier, undercard fighters had survived a minor crash en route to the venue.
“I had a bit of energy to push out,” Nikita laughed.
Romero’s Surprise Cameo
During a live cross, Romero jumped in: “The fight’s at 158? I get the leftovers?”
“Of course, brother,” Tszyu replied.
What’s Next
Nikita faces Diaz midweek, promising action:
“He’s got a dog in him… that’s the recipe for a great night.”
