LeBron James remains unsigned for the 2026-27 NBA season, with a July 23 report claiming he is irritated by commissioner Adam Silver's public request for a decision as the league plans its marquee schedule.
The Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors have been linked with him. Possible reunions with Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis could affect his choice.
The story follows major NBL signings by the Sydney Kings and South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Adam Silver Waits for LeBron James Decision
“I would like him to make his announcement already, so we can finish the schedule,” Adam Silver said on July 17.
“But it will influence how we set the schedule, how we set opening week, Christmas Day, etc.”
Rich Paul, LeBron James' agent, asked for patience during Wednesday's Pat McAfee Show. “Just have a little patience with him,” Rich Paul said.
“You cannot rush it. I think he’s earned the right not to be rushed.”
The NBA's official free-agency report confirms that LeBron James plans to leave the Los Angeles Lakers but has not selected his next team.
Championship Reunions Remain Difficult
Kevin O'Connor reported that a contender pairing LeBron James with Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis could influence his choice. The three players shared championships in Cleveland and Los Angeles.
A Kyrie Irving reunion could require major Cleveland roster movement. Anthony Davis remains with the Washington Wizards and becomes eligible for a four-year, $281 million extension on August 6.
No reunion deal has been completed, leaving LeBron James' destination unresolved as opening week and Christmas scheduling decisions approach.
