Brazil vs Norway analysis points to a painful truth for the five-time champions: Brazil created enough chances to survive, but their finishing, late-game control and defensive focus collapsed in the biggest moments.
Neymar showed calm from the penalty spot against Norway, but Brazil may regret not building more of their attacking structure around him after he returned to fitness.
The defeat followed a wider collapse in Brazil’s campaign, with Haaland punishing the five-time champions in a World Cup knockout exit.
Brazil Create But Fail To Finish
Brazil produced their most aggressive attacking football of the tournament, creating clear scoring chances through Vinicius Junior, Gabriel Martinelli, Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes.
The early missed penalty proved costly, especially in a knockout match where one goal can change the rhythm, the pressure and the whole game plan.
Lucas Paqueta’s absence was felt in midfield, while Raphinha not appearing as a substitute left another question over how Brazil tried to break Norway down.
If Brazil had scored earlier, Norway’s plan to strike late against tired legs may never have had the chance to develop.
Norway’s Late Surprise Changes Everything
For most of the match, Norway had not leaned on aerial crosses as a regular attacking route.
That changed in the dying minutes, when one late delivery caught Brazil cold and gave Norway the decisive moment.
Brazil had controlled long spells and pushed hard after conceding, but their game management became nervous when the match entered its final stretch.
That nervousness showed when Erling Haaland was left with too much room in a dangerous shooting position.
Luck Turns Against Brazil
Tournament football often comes down to fine margins, and Brazil lost almost every one of them.
Casemiro’s effort stayed out, good chances went unfinished, and the missed penalty at the start became harder to ignore as the match wore on.
Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, Gabriel Martinelli and Vinicius Junior are all capable takers, but the miss summed up Brazil’s night.
