Rugby League World Cup 2026 is now 100 days away, with Seven and 7plus Sport set to broadcast the tournament live, free and exclusively across Australia from October 15 to November 15.
The tournament will open with Australia facing New Zealand at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, setting the tone for a month of international rugby league across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
The countdown begins during a major week for the code, with the State of Origin decider hinging on Nathan Cleary’s response as Sam Walker puts the Blues under pressure.
Seven Confirms Full Coverage
The tournament will feature 26 teams from around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, England, Tonga and Samoa.
Seven’s coverage will include 18 men’s matches, 15 women’s matches and 20 wheelchair matches across the month-long event.
“There’s nothing quite like the energy and passion that comes with the Rugby League World Cup,” Seven Rugby League World Cup 2026 host Mel McLaughlin said.
“To have the 2026 tournament on home soil is a landmark moment for fans, and with so many nations capable of claiming the top prize, it’s shaping up to be one of our most exciting sport events yet.
“You know how much I love a World Cup – and this one will be everywhere on Seven. Wall-to-wall coverage, unmatched behind-thescenes access, and all the biggest breaking news stories as they happen.”
Global Stage Set For Rugby League
Seven Director of Sport Chris Jones said the tournament’s depth gives it a major edge.
“What makes this Rugby League World Cup so compelling is the strength and depth of talent now emerging. The international game has never been more competitive. This is Origin, but on a global scale.
“At Seven, we’re thrilled to bring every single moment of this prestigious event live, free and exclusive to Australians. This is more than just a sporting tournament. It’s a celebration of rugby league’s global growth and the superstars who continue to elevate the game.
“We can’t wait to share that journey with audiences in every corner of Australia, live and free on Seven and 7plus.”
