Giannis Antetokounmpo trade news has changed the NBA picture, with Milwaukee Bucks sending their franchise star and Bobby Portis to Miami Heat in a major three-way deal.
The move ends Antetokounmpo’s long run in Milwaukee after another All-Star season and gives Miami Heat a top-five talent to pair with Bam Adebayo. It matters because the Bucks have shifted toward a new core, while the Heat are trying to climb out of the middle of the Eastern Conference.

Heat Bet Big On Giannis
Miami Heat gave up Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick in 2026, a 2030 pick swap, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, plus a 2033 second-round pick.
Antetokounmpo averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists last season while shooting 62.4 percent from the field. His rim pressure, passing and improved midrange game should give Miami a clear offensive centrepiece.
Portis also gives Miami bench scoring and shooting after the Heat lost several rotation pieces in the deal.
A likely Heat core of Antetokounmpo, Adebayo, Davion Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins and potentially Norman Powell gives Erik Spoelstra’s side a stronger playoff base.
Bucks Start New Era
Milwaukee Bucks receive Herro, Ware, Jaquez, Jakucionis and a major draft package as they move on from their two-time MVP.
Herro can keep the Bucks competitive in the regular season, which matters because Milwaukee do not control their own picks through 2030. Ware, Jaquez and Jakucionis also give the team younger pieces alongside Ryan Rollins and the No. 13 selection.
The Bucks will not replace Antetokounmpo’s star impact straight away.
Still, the return gives Milwaukee more long-term options than a reported Jaylen Brown-centred package would have offered. The franchise now begins a new phase after years built around Antetokounmpo.
