Iran World Cup team players left a handwritten peace message at SoFi Stadium after completing their second Group G match in Los Angeles, where they were backed by a large Iranian diaspora crowd.
Iran drew with New Zealand national football team last Monday and then earned another point against Belgium national football team on Sunday, leaving them second in Group G after two games. The message mattered because it came while talks continued toward a peace deal between Iran and the United States.

Players Leave Dressing Room Note
The note thanked Los Angeles and Iranian supporters after 180 minutes of World Cup football in the city.
"From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today.
"The spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast. #168 #Minab.
"We came to Los Angeles with pride, competed with honour, and leave with dignity. Thank you, Los Angeles, for your hospitality.
"And thank you to every Iranian who gave their heart, voice and soul for Iran throughout these 180 minutes. May peace, respect and friendship prevail among all nations."
The hashtags referred to the bombing of the Minab school in Iran on February 28, where reports said 168 people had been killed.
Iran Stay In Knockout Race
Support for Iran national football team was loud inside SoFi Stadium, though anti-regime protests also took place outside.
Some supporters waved pre-revolution Lion and Sun flags inside the stadium, despite a FIFA ban on them. Iran have also complained about their treatment by United States authorities during the tournament.
Coach Amir Ghalenoei said last week that Iran were the "most oppressed" team at the World Cup.
Iran moved their training base from the United States to Tijuana last month. They will face Egypt national football team in Seattle on Friday, with a place in the knockout stage still within reach.
