Knicks White House Visit confirmed after NBA Finals appearance
The Knicks White House visit became a talking point on Wednesday after New York Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed the team has accepted an invitation to meet President Donald Trump in Washington. The visit comes shortly after the Knicks’ NBA Finals campaign, where they reached Game 3 at Madison Square Garden before falling in a five-game series against the San Antonio Spurs. Dolan, speaking on The Craig Carton Show, said the invitation was received directly from the White House and accepted by the organisation, though final attendance details are still being worked out. The decision matters because no NBA champion had visited Trump during most of his presidency periods, making this a rare move in modern league history.
Dolan confirms invitation details
Dolan said, "We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, etc., but yes, of course. Look, I invited the president to come down for the game. He is a friend, I've known him for 30 years and I'm very proud to bring the team to the White House."
NBA response history
Some players may opt out, continuing a trend seen across recent champions, with past visits often shaped by political tensions and personal decisions.
