The James Dolan playoff sacrifice speech has become one of the most talked-about stories following the New York Knicks' historic NBA championship triumph. Footage shared this week from an April team meeting showed Knicks owner James Dolan urging players to make sacrifices during their playoff run, including improving sleep, watching their diets, and even considering abstinence for 10 weeks. The speech gained attention after New York secured its first NBA title since 1973.
Dolan's Message to the Team
Speaking before a shootaround on April 3, Dolan encouraged players to fully commit to the championship chase.
"I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks," Dolan said.
He later added, "Go home, talk to your wives and tell them."
The comments drew laughs and curiosity across the basketball world. While it remains unknown whether any players followed the suggestion, head coach Mike Brown admitted he did not.
"There was no way that I could get that done," Brown said.
