Balogun Makes History for the United States
United States striker Folarin Balogun became one of the tournament's standout performers after scoring twice during his side's 4-1 victory over Paraguay in Los Angeles.
The Monaco forward found the net twice in the first half and helped the co-host nation secure an impressive opening win. His brace also carried historical significance, making him the first American player to score multiple goals in a World Cup match since 1930.
The crowd inside Los Angeles Stadium responded loudly to every attacking move as the USA took control early and never looked back. Balogun's movement and finishing gave Paraguay constant problems throughout the match.
Havertz Leads Germany's Goal Fest
Germany delivered one of the most dominant displays of the tournament so far, defeating Curaçao 7-1 in Houston.
Kai Havertz scored twice as Germany's attack overwhelmed the World Cup newcomers. The Arsenal forward looked sharp throughout the contest and was involved in several dangerous attacks before completing his brace.
Germany's supporters were in full voice as the goals continued to arrive. The momentum rarely shifted away from the European giants, who controlled possession and created chances almost at will.
Several teammates also contributed, including Deniz Undav, Jamal Musiala, Felix Nmecha, Nathaniel Brown, and Nico Schlotterbeck, all of whom found themselves on the scoresheet or contributed significantly to the attack.
Ayari Stars in Sweden's Victory
Sweden midfielder Yasin Ayari joined Balogun and Havertz at the top of the scoring charts after netting twice in a convincing 5-1 victory over Tunisia.
Ayari's brace highlighted an impressive Swedish attacking performance. Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres also played major roles as Sweden consistently threatened Tunisia's defense.
The match featured several swings in intensity, but Sweden's quality in front of goal proved decisive. Ayari's finishing and intelligent movement allowed him to capitalize on scoring opportunities and move level with the tournament's leading scorers.

The adidas Golden Boot is awarded to the player who scores the most goals during the FIFA World Cup. If two or more players finish level on goals, assists are used as the first tiebreaker.
