CeeDee Lamb enters the 2026 NFL season with plenty to prove after a frustrating 2025 campaign for the Dallas Cowboys. The star wide receiver battled an ankle injury, missed three games, and saw his role shift as George Pickens became a major part of the offense. While his numbers dipped compared to previous seasons, the circumstances surrounding his season suggest the setback may be temporary rather than the start of a long-term decline.
Injury and Offensive Changes Hurt Production
Lamb was expected to remain the focal point of the Cowboys' passing attack in 2025. Instead, injuries and a different offensive setup limited his impact. He finished the season with 75 receptions, 1,077 receiving yards, and three touchdowns, well below the standards he had established in recent years.
The ankle injury cost him valuable playing time, while the arrival of Pickens reduced the volume of targets coming his way. Lamb averaged 8.4 targets per game compared to 10.1 the previous season, making it more difficult to produce elite-level numbers.
Fans watching Dallas throughout the year could see the difference. There were stretches where Lamb appeared less involved than usual, and the offense often spread opportunities across multiple receiving options.
Why 2026 Could Be Different
Several factors point toward a stronger season ahead. The biggest is health. If Lamb stays available for a full season, his production should naturally increase.
Dallas also faces uncertainty regarding Pickens' future. The receiver is currently playing under the franchise tag, meaning the Cowboys' long-term plans at the position remain unclear. That situation could once again make Lamb the unquestioned centerpiece of the passing game.
At 27 years old, Lamb is still in the prime years of his career. The Cowboys continue to view him as their top receiving threat, and a healthy season could quickly return him to the league's elite group of wide receivers.

Outlook for the Cowboys Star
Rather than signaling a decline, Lamb's 2025 season may simply be remembered as a difficult year disrupted by injury and changing circumstances. If he can stay healthy and regain a larger share of the offense, the Cowboys receiver has every chance to bounce back in 2026 and re-establish himself among the NFL's top playmakers.
