Adelaide Crows held on for a dramatic 11.9 (75) to 10.14 (74) AFL win over Geelong at a wet Adelaide Oval, with Darcy Fogarty’s late set shot overturned from a goal to a behind.
More than 40,000 fans thought Fogarty had sealed the match from outside 50, but the AFL review centre ruled the ball had brushed the post, leaving Adelaide one point ahead in the final minutes.

Fogarty Behind Decides Wet Contest
The late behind proved enough as debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan won a vital defensive free kick soon after returning from a head clash that left him with stitches.
Dan Curtin then took a strong late mark to close out Adelaide’s first win over Geelong since 2021, and only their second against the Cats since the start of 2019.
Hall-Kahan, who joined Adelaide as a mid-season draftee just eight days earlier, called the week a shock to the system.
“I only had two training sessions. I started to come down a bit, settle in, and then obviously got the call-up on Monday (to debut) and everything catapulted again. It was unbelievable,” he said.
On the head clash, Hall-Kahan said: “I was just chasing and all of a sudden I was on the floor. It’s not broken, I don’t think, just a few stitches but I was glad to get back on because we had a few sore (teammates).”
Curtin And Dawson Lift Adelaide
Curtin finished with 26 disposals in one of his best games for Adelaide, while Wayne Milera had 24 and Rory Laird added 23. Taylor Walker and Ben Keays kicked two goals each.
Jordan Dawson also hit the scoreboard with three goals, including a long-range final-quarter strike after outmarking two Geelong defenders.
Geelong were led by Bailey Smith with 34 disposals, while Max Holmes and Patrick Dangerfield each had 30. Dangerfield started strongly in midfield against his former club, recording 13 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five clearances and a goal in the first quarter.
Callum Ah Chee suffered another hamstring injury, while Jordon Butts hurt his calf and Toby Murray was also caught in the head clash with Hall-Kahan. Official match updates are available through the AFL website.
