Richmond vs North Melbourne was underway at the MCG on Sunday as AFL Round 15 entered its final day, with both sides chasing valuable momentum in the second half of the season. Richmond, seeking just their third win of the year, made an encouraging start despite North Melbourne controlling much of the early territory. The match mattered for both clubs as the Kangaroos looked to build on last week's dramatic victory over West Coast while the Tigers aimed to improve a difficult campaign.
Tigers Capitalise Despite North Pressure
North Melbourne dominated the inside-50 count early and spent long periods attacking, but Richmond made the most of a rare opportunity.
The breakthrough came when Sam Cumming finished a quick attacking sequence to kick the opening goal of the contest, sparking a loud reaction from Richmond supporters at the MCG.
While the Kangaroos continued to generate forward entries, they struggled to convert their chances. Zane Duursma had an opportunity to respond but pushed his shot wide, leaving North trailing despite enjoying more possession in dangerous areas.
Captains and Key Returns
Richmond received a major boost before the match with captain Toby Nankervis returning from a hamstring injury. North Melbourne entered the contest without suspended forward Paul Curtis but welcomed Finn O'Sullivan and Aidan Corr into the side.
