Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica medical setback has forced a pause on his return to the National Rugby League after a training regression last week in Melbourne, putting his season comeback in serious doubt following major brain and heart surgery after a stroke in March. The 32-year-old Tui Kamikamica, a long-time forward for Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League, had shown early signs of recovery before the latest health concern halted progress. His absence continues to weaken the Storm’s forward rotation during a difficult campaign.
A club official confirmed the setback, describing him as “touch-and-go” for the remainder of the season. Kamikamica is still targeting a return to international duty with the Rugby League World Cup. Kamikamica said: "Eli was the first one to come to the hospital," Kamikamica told AAP. "He's been right here since day one in rehab together, we're pretty much riding the same road. They're long days, and when you have someone, a great mate, you can talk to them, and especially he has his experience as well. He pretty much knows how we feel, so for him to be there, like, giving me company and stuff, that's really good for me, with my health as well." His close friend Eli Katoa has also been recovering from serious head injury issues.
