Jordan Bos Socceroos expectations are rising ahead of Australia’s FIFA World Cup meeting with Turkey, with the 23-year-old left full-back tipped as one of the team’s breakout players before his tournament debut.
Bos spoke at Australia’s training base in Oakland, where the Socceroos are preparing for their opening clash in North America against a dangerous Turkey side.
The buildup follows wider World Cup discussion, including World Cup Top Scorers: Miroslav Klose Leads as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe Chase History, as football’s biggest tournament moves closer. Fans can follow official tournament updates through the FIFA website.
Bos Ready for World Cup Stage
“I just have to soak up the experience and just play football,” Bos says. “It’s kind of hard to ‘feel’ the moment as it is now, but I think afterwards I’ll really understand the experience that I’m in now.”
The former Melbourne City academy player has moved fast in his career, from Hoppers Crossing to Westerlo and now Feyenoord.
His pace, strength and delivery from left full-back have made him a serious attacking weapon for the Socceroos, especially in transition when Australia can release him into space.
Feyenoord Rise Adds to Buzz
Bos joined Feyenoord after two years in Belgium and quickly made an impression in the Eredivisie.
He was named player of the month for September last year and finished the season with four goals and six assists as Feyenoord placed second and earned a Champions League spot.
“To have some positivity and having people believing in me and stuff like that, it’s really nice, and yeah, it does feel like [the work] is paying off a bit,” he says. “But yeah, we go on.”
Bos also played down pressure before the Turkey match.
“Not really pressure,” Bos says. “I don’t really look at that stuff. Or think about it too much.”
Turkey Test Awaits
Bos could face Juventus attacker Kenan Yildiz when Australia meets Turkey, a matchup that would test both his defensive timing and willingness to surge forward.
“I’ll definitely do my research in the next couple of days,” Bos says. “I don’t watch that much football in my downtime, so we’ll see in the next couple of days when I have a look at him.”
