Victor Wembanyama helped the San Antonio Spurs book their place in the NBA Finals after a 111-103 Game 7 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night. The Western Conference Finals decider saw the Spurs rise to the occasion in front of a charged crowd, ending the Thunder's title defense and setting up a championship showdown with the New York Knicks. The result matters because San Antonio now has a chance to win another NBA title, while Oklahoma City's remarkable season comes to an end.
Spurs Deliver Under Pressure
The game remained competitive deep into the fourth quarter, but San Antonio produced key defensive stops and timely shooting when it mattered most. Julian Champagnie contributed 20 points and knocked down six three-pointers, while Wembanyama finished with 22 points and seven rebounds.
"They don’t know how much I love them, and everyone stepped up tonight," the French star said after the win.
Luke Kornet's late block halted a Thunder comeback attempt, and a breakaway dunk sealed the result for San Antonio.
Emotional Wembanyama Eyes Bigger Prize
Wembanyama was named series MVP and became emotional after the final buzzer.
"Realizing that some part of a childhood dream is going to come true," said Wembanyama. "We’re still hungry, we want more. This feeling is so powerful, I can’t explain it".
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points and added nine assists for Oklahoma City, but the reigning champions lacked enough support to extend their season.
