RCB vs KKR IPL 2026 began after a rain delay in Raipur, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar choosing to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The start was pushed back by one hour and 15 minutes, but no overs were lost, giving both teams a full match in a contest that could affect the Indian Premier League standings.
The match follows another key Indian Premier League story after Daniel Vettori backed Sunrisers Hyderabad despite a heavy defeat to Gujarat Titans, while official tournament updates are available on the Indian Premier League website.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Strengthen Pace Attack
Patidar said bowling first was the clear call after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won a close match against Mumbai Indians at the same venue on Sunday.
That game featured seam movement and uneven bounce, and the adjacent pitch is expected to offer similar help for fast bowlers.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru reacted by bringing in Jacob Duffy for legspinner Suyash Sharma.
Romario Shepherd missed out as a result, while Venkatesh Iyer came into the XI and Devdutt Padikkal started on the Impact Player bench.
Kolkata Knight Riders Hand Dubey a Cap
Kolkata Knight Riders also leaned toward pace by naming Vidarbha left-arm seamer Saurabh Dubey in their squad.
Dubey replaced Akash Deep in the group and came in for Varun Chakravarthy, who is dealing with a foot injury.
Dubey began on the Impact Player bench, with Kolkata Knight Riders keeping a batting order led by Finn Allen, Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Cameron Green and Rinku Singh.
Sunil Narine, Anukul Roy, Kartik Tyagi and Vaibhav Arora remain part of the bowling group.
Table Stakes Add Pressure
A Royal Challengers Bengaluru win would take them above Gujarat Titans on net run rate and move them to the top of the table.
Kolkata Knight Riders can climb from eighth to seventh with victory and move within two points of fourth-placed Punjab Kings.
That leaves both sides with clear stakes in Raipur, where the surface may again make early wickets and new-ball control decisive.
