Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera injury news has dealt St Kilda a major setback, with the Saints star ruled out for three weeks because of a calf strain.
The 22-year-old was a late withdrawal from Saturday night’s loss to Gold Coast in Darwin after taking a knock to his lower leg against Carlton the previous week.
The update comes during another busy Australian Football League week after Fremantle Dockers Wharfie Time push was praised by Justin Longmuir, while official club news is available through the St Kilda Football Club website.
Wanganeen-Milera Set to Miss Key Games
Scans confirmed a minor calf strain, meaning Wanganeen-Milera will miss Sunday’s match against Richmond.
He is also set to sit out St Kilda’s next two matches against Fremantle and Hawthorn.
"We gave Nas every opportunity to get up for Saturday night, but ultimately decided to err on the side of caution," St Kilda football boss Lenny Hayes told the club website.
"Despite presenting with minimal pain, results from his latest scan have confirmed a minor strain."
Wilkie Racing to Keep Streak Alive
Co-captain Cal Wilkie must prove his fitness if he is to face Richmond.
Wilkie has played 164 consecutive games since his debut, but was forced off against Gold Coast after Ben King kneed him in the back during a marking contest.
Hayes said scans had cleared Wilkie of internal damage.
That gives the defender a chance to keep his long run alive if he gets through the club’s fitness checks.
Saints Injury List Grows
Jack Higgins could return from concussion, giving St Kilda a possible boost in attack.
Liam Ryan is also set to miss three weeks with a calf injury, adding to the Saints’ selection concerns before a vital run of games.
