The West Coast Eagles have confirmed that young midfielder Elijah Hewett dropped out of the senior side for their upcoming encounter against the Melbourne Demons at Marvel Stadium. Following a lackluster performance against the Richmond Tigers, the Eagles management has decided to overhaul the roster to find much needed stability.
Key defender Harry Edwards makes his long awaited return to the full back position after recovering from a second concussion sustained earlier this year. This defensive reinforcement is vital for the Eagles as they look to combat a potent Melbourne Demons forward line.

Tactical Shifts and Omissions
Elijah Hewett and Harry Schoenberg were both omitted from the final team sheet after struggling to impact the contest in recent weeks. Elijah Hewett has averaged just 10 disposals this season, leading the club to prioritize his development in the WAFL reserves.
“We rate Elijah highly and he has been in constant conversations with our coach Andrew McQualter about his form and the best pathway to get back to playing primarily as an AFL midfielder,” Eagles head of football John Worsfold said. “We see the opportunity to play a full game in midfield in the WAFL as the best option for him this week.”
Inclusions and Debut Potential
The Eagles have named an extended bench that includes several fresh faces such as Jack Hutchinson, Harvey Johnston, and Clay Hall. These potential inclusions are joined by 2024 first round draftee Bo Allan, who could receive an immediate recall after being left out last week.
The Melbourne Demons will also be forced into changes with forward Brody Mihocek sidelined by a hamstring injury. They have named Subiaco product Luker Kentfield in their extended squad, potentially paving the way for a debut on the big stage.
