The upcoming Tai Tuivasa UFC Fight Night appearance on Saturday sees the Australian heavyweight icon looking to reclaim his knockout glory and snap a difficult six-fight skid.
Tuivasa will step into the RAC Arena to face Englishman Louie Sutherland, aiming for his first Octagon victory in more than four years in front of a passionate home crowd.
The Western Australian event is a major homecoming for local stars, with Jack Della Maddalena also headlining the card as he looks to rebound from his recent title loss.
Overcoming Global Turbulence
Tai Tuivasa enters this bout following a chaotic preparation phase that saw him relocate his training camp from Dubai to Perth due to regional instability.
Despite the stress of finding new flights and accommodation on short notice, the 33-year-old fan favorite believes he is in a better mental state than he has been in years.
“I feel good, probably the best I’ve felt in the past few years. I am not just saying that, my outside life is falling into place, and everything is going well,” Tuivasa told The West Australian.
The Return of Bam Bam Style
The heavyweight slugger has built his career on finishes, with 13 of his 14 professional wins coming by way of knockout.
Facing a hungry Louie Sutherland, who is also seeking his first UFC win, Tuivasa is focused on returning to the aggressive tactics that made him a global name.
“I keep to what we’ve been training. I will win this in good style, I will win this in Bam Bam style. And a big shoey at the end,” he said.
Local Training Support
While in Perth, Tuivasa has found a welcoming environment at Scrappy MMA, training alongside the Della Maddalena family to sharpen his skills.
He noted that the positive atmosphere at the local gym has helped him relax and focus on the task at hand.
“It’s just losing that’s s... because winners are grinners. It’s the ones who do not give up, I don’t want to go out like this,” he added.
